Bring the approved set to the property
Manteca’s Building Permits page says issued plans and documents must be printed and available on site for the contractor and inspector. Its Citizen Access resource also covers permit history and inspection functions. Use that resource to clarify the documents associated with an existing project.
For a handoff, write down the project reference, the current approved sheet dates and where the printed set will be kept. Name the person who will bring it. Keep older sketches and quotations identifiable so someone arriving at the property can tell which set describes the approved work.
Compare the finish scope with the recorded work
Point to the room and feature that still need attention. For example, distinguish trim or wall finishing around earlier work from a proposal to move the opening or change a system. Photographs of the unfinished area help a provider price the actual remaining task.
If the proposed finish changes something shown in the approved documents, write that difference as a question for Building Safety. Agree separately on access, protection of nearby finishes and what completion photographs or product information the provider will leave with the owner.
Can a contractor quote substitute for Manteca’s approved plans on site?
The city instruction refers to the issued plans and documents. A quote can explain the purchased scope, but ask Building Safety about any missing approved documents before relying on it for an inspection visit.
Who should bring the current documents for a repair follow-up?
Assign that responsibility explicitly between the owner and provider. Confirm the current revision, the location of the printed set and who will make it accessible at the property.

For a rented home, confirm who can authorize alterations. In a shared building, ask about access and work rules. A citywide construction period does not establish the age, condition or safety requirements of an individual home; check the property records and the specific project.
