Map the sprinkler symptom to the surface
Indio Water Authority’s water-saving tips discuss checking sprinkler valves and heads and directing spray away from the house and hard surfaces. Use that resource as a starting point for a clearer observation record.
Mark the zone or yard location and the surface being wetted: planting, paving or the building. Note when you observe the issue and whether it occurs during a watering cycle or at another time. A wide photograph and a closer view of the affected area give the provider more context than the phrase irrigation problem.
Keep adjustment, leak and finish damage separate
Keep a head-direction adjustment request separate from an unexplained wet spot or suspected valve/line problem. If water has affected trim or a wall surface, identify that as another condition to assess. One observation does not establish which component is at fault.
Ask whether the provider handles the proposed assessment and repair, and what specialist work would be separate. Before adding an indoor fixture task, make its scope visible as well. This guide has not checked the property’s water provider, diagnosed a leak or established any applicable watering restriction.
What should I record when a sprinkler wets an Indio wall or sidewalk?
Record the yard location, the surface getting wet, when it happens and any visible finish damage. The city’s tips discuss sprinkler direction; your notes should describe the symptom without assuming which part needs replacing.
Does runoff prove that a sprinkler valve is leaking?
No. Runoff is an observation, not a diagnosis. Keep the spray direction, timing and any suspected leak location separate so the provider can assess the actual cause and appropriate scope.

For a rented home, confirm who can authorize alterations. In a shared building, ask about access and work rules. A citywide construction period does not establish the age, condition or safety requirements of an individual home; check the property records and the specific project.
