Read the current program status before relying on it
As checked October 22, 2026, Peoria’s exact Alley and Porch Light Program page says it is no longer accepting applications. It retains program-boundary maps, but those maps do not establish a current offer at an address. Ask the City about any later change instead of assuming the general assistance description means applications are open.
For an existing light, describe its position, control and changed behavior. For an additional light, identify the area you want illuminated and why the current arrangement does not meet that aim. Keep the two requests separate so an assessment can consider the actual starting condition.
Describe the location and control of the proposed light
Show the porch, wall or alley-facing location in context, including access to the proposed work area. Note which existing features you want retained. If appearance, glare or the position of a control matters to you, make it a question for review before selecting a product.
Ask the appropriate professional to assess the work and explain the proposed boundary, including any related surface repair. Confirm the task, property and approval contact directly. A lighting enquiry does not establish electrical qualifications, a City-funded fixture, a scheduled visit or a particular illumination result.
Is Peoria’s Alley and Porch Light Program accepting applications?
The exact program page says applications are no longer accepted, as checked October 22, 2026. Confirm any future change with the City; the remaining maps do not establish an open application.
What should distinguish a failed outdoor fixture from a request for another light?
For a fault, give the existing fixture’s location, control and observed change. For another light, show the desired illuminated area and proposed position. Ask for assessment without prescribing an electrical repair.

For a rented home, confirm who can authorize alterations. In a shared building, ask about access and work rules. A citywide construction period does not establish the age, condition or safety requirements of an individual home; check the property records and the specific project.
