Make a removal inventory before the replacement quote
Separate the removed items by material and size: a fixture, sections of sheetrock, old fencing and leftover coatings should not disappear into one “cleanup” line. Record what is still attached, what must be carried through the home and what can be kept separate for the receiving site.
The City’s disposal resource distinguishes private weekly trash haulers, a seasonal residential Drop-Off Depot and household hazardous-waste information. Use the relevant route to verify the actual materials, current dates and acceptance conditions. A household-item collection announcement is not a disposal plan for every repair.
Choose who owns each leg of the disposal trip
Decide who disconnects or dismantles the old item, who loads it and who transports it. Ask whether the quote includes those stages, any receiving-site charge and removal of packaging. Identify where material can wait without blocking a doorway, vehicle or the next stage of work.
The City describes the depot as resident-only and excludes commercial waste. Before relying on it for a hired project, ask about the particular load and who is bringing it. Keep a confirmed alternative for material the chosen route will not accept.
Can a resident-only depot be assumed to accept a contractor’s load?
No. The City’s depot information excludes commercial waste. Describe the load and who will transport it to the City or receiving operation before assuming a resident route applies.
What should I recheck when a repair falls outside the depot season?
Confirm a currently available receiving route, the exact material list and who will haul it. Recheck dates and conditions directly; do not plan around an earlier seasonal cleanup announcement.

For a rented home, confirm who can authorize alterations. In a shared building, ask about access and work rules. A citywide construction period does not establish the age, condition or safety requirements of an individual home; check the property records and the specific project.
