Describe current equipment and the discharge route
Start with the equipment question and the discharge route as separate notes. Identify the pump or private drain involved, the outlet already known and the proposed change. If the connection cannot be identified from existing information, mark it as uncertain instead of tracing or opening equipment to fill the gap.
Carmel Engineering publishes a review and inspection route for private-drain connections to the City storm system. Use it to ask about the actual proposal. The published route does not select a connection method or provide permission for a particular property.
Give a connection change its own scope
A pump replacement proposal can retain a different boundary from a new outlet or storm-system connection. Ask the provider to state which part it is considering. Keep any proposed route change visible in the request, even if the immediate concern is simply that existing equipment needs assessment.
Compare current and proposed locations on a sketch using records already available. Ask Engineering and the appropriate professional what further information or assessment is needed. Keep their responses with the corresponding scope; avoid treating an equipment quote as an answer to an unresolved City-system connection question.
Why show Carmel Engineering the current and proposed discharge points?
Its Engineering resource provides a private-drain connection review route. A current-and-proposed sketch explains the change for that enquiry without choosing how a connection should be made.
Is pump replacement the same request as a new storm-system connection?
Keep them separately described. Identify whether the request concerns equipment, the outlet, a connection change or more than one of these, then ask the relevant contacts about each part.

For a rented home, confirm who can authorize alterations. In a shared building, ask about access and work rules. A citywide construction period does not establish the age, condition or safety requirements of an individual home; check the property records and the specific project.
