Identify the applicant and the person doing the follow-up
Mission Viejo’s Client Self Service resource says participants needing permit or inspection access need an account. It also explains that the applicant must add the person as a permit contact for inspection access. Creating an account alone does not establish that association.
Keep the permit reference with the handoff and identify the applicant who can address a missing contact. Explain which person will coordinate the remaining task and what authority they have from the owner. Resolve access through the city’s guidance without sharing another participant’s login credentials.
Resolve access before agreeing on the next action
Before planning the next action, ask whether the intended contact can see the relevant permit and functions. If something is missing, clarify the contact association with the applicant or city. No account or permit access was tested for this guide.
Portal access is also separate from the physical work being authorized. Give the provider a clear remaining scope and identify any inspection question still awaiting an answer. Confirm the actual city arrangement before making the owner’s access plans or the provider’s return depend on it.
Does creating an account alone give a provider access to my Mission Viejo permit?
The city describes two elements: an account and the applicant adding the person as a permit contact. Confirm both for the particular record; this guide has not tested anyone’s access.
What if the person arranging follow-up cannot see the inspection functions?
Ask the applicant or city to clarify the contact association using the official guidance. Keep the intended inspection action unconfirmed until access and the actual arrangement are resolved.

For a rented home, confirm who can authorize alterations. In a shared building, ask about access and work rules. A citywide construction period does not establish the age, condition or safety requirements of an individual home; check the property records and the specific project.
