Match the record to the actual rental unit
Bellingham’s rental resource links a dashboard of registered rentals and safety-inspection results. It also separates registration, inspection and tenant/landlord support resources. Use the relevant record as dated background when discussing a repair with the property’s authorized manager.
Write the building address and unit consistently. If you have an inspection reference, retain its date and the exact feature it discusses. A result associated with another unit, a shared area or an earlier condition can create confusion when attached to a new work request. No address record was searched for this guide.
Add new symptoms without overwriting the old record
Describe a newly sticking window, damaged rail or other issue as a new observation, including when it appeared and how it affects use. Explain whether it seems to concern the same feature identified in the earlier record. Let the owner or manager decide what assessment and authorization are needed.
Preserve the earlier result alongside the update so the repair history remains understandable. If the issue is unresolved, the city’s rental page provides support and code-enforcement resources. A provider needs a defined authorized scope even when a separate city inquiry is underway.
Does a registered Bellingham rental record show today’s repair condition?
Registration and a dated inspection result do not assess a newly observed condition. Use the record’s date and purpose alongside current photographs and the manager’s repair instructions.
What if my repair problem is absent from an earlier inspection result?
Record it separately with the unit, feature and observation date. Inform the authorized manager and use the city’s linked support resources when appropriate; an omission in an older result does not describe today’s condition.

For a rented home, confirm who can authorize alterations. In a shared building, ask about access and work rules. A citywide construction period does not establish the age, condition or safety requirements of an individual home; check the property records and the specific project.
