Scope of window cleaning
Window-cleaning quotes need the number and type of windows, access, height, condition, and whether interior surfaces, exterior surfaces, frames, tracks, or screens are included. Identify obstructions and any fragile or damaged components. Agree on cleaning methods, protection of surrounding areas, and the treatment of marks or defects that ordinary cleaning may not remove.
Define the glass, sides and access included
A window-cleaning quotation should identify the number and type of openings, interior and exterior sides, and any skylights or difficult elevations. Ask whether frames, sills, tracks and removable screens are included or separate. A count of windows alone may not describe large glazed panels, divided panes or openings that cannot be reached from the same access arrangement.
Tell the provider about damaged seals, loose components, coatings or manufacturer care restrictions. Cleaning should use a method suited to the actual glazing and surrounding finishes. Staining, scratches or deposits may need a different assessment from ordinary dirt, and the service should not promise that every mark can be removed without risk to the surface.
Agree on access, protection and remaining defects
Discuss occupied rooms, furniture, landscaping and the access equipment the provider expects to use. Do not create unsafe access merely to improve the quotation photographs. Clarify how screens are removed and refitted if that task is included. Ask the cleaner to report damaged components or conditions that prevent the planned service. Window repair, screen replacement and power washing of exterior surfaces remain separate scopes; clean glass does not establish that the frame, seals or surrounding building envelope have been inspected or repaired.
