Scope of window screen repair & replacement
Window-screen work depends on whether the mesh, spline, frame, clips, or the complete screen needs replacement. Provide opening dimensions and photographs of the existing screen and attachment points. Clarify material choice, frame repair, fit, and removal of old components, and distinguish insect screening from repairing the window's operation or glazing.
Window mesh or its removable frame?
Identify each affected window and show the screen's mesh, frame and retaining parts where safely accessible. A tear in otherwise sound mesh differs from a bent frame, missing screen or damaged retaining fitting. Give the window manufacturer or screen dimensions if known, but ask who will verify the fit before replacement parts are made or ordered. Do not remove a high or unstable screen simply to measure it.
Choose materials for the actual screen system
Describe the intended use and any product preference without assuming every mesh fits every frame. Ask what the provider will reuse and replace and whether model-specific corners, clips or other parts are available. Ordinary window re-screening should not become an undefined promise to rebuild a porch enclosure, fit a screen door or design a custom mosquito barrier. Those projects need different measurements and support details.
Agree on refitting and limitations
Specify mesh replacement, frame work, accepted fittings and the final fit and removal checks. Window cleaning, glass repair and repairing the operating window may be separate tasks. Keep the screen system's use instructions. An insect screen should not be treated as fall protection or a security barrier; installing it does not establish that the primary window or surrounding opening is otherwise sound.
