Scope of sink installation & repair
Sink work should identify the sink material and mounting style, countertop or cabinet condition, faucet, and existing plumbing connections. Explain whether the problem is a leak, damaged sink, mounting issue, or desired replacement. Ask the appropriate provider to define removal, fitting, sealing, connection work, and checks, including repairs to any affected supporting surfaces.
Separate fixture replacement from a leak diagnosis
A sink request should identify kitchen, bathroom, laundry or another location, together with the sink material and mounting arrangement. Describe whether the problem is a damaged basin, leak, loose fitting or drainage issue. Water near a sink may come from the faucet, supply, drain, seal or countertop; replacing the basin is not automatically the correct remedy.
For installation, provide the selected sink and the existing cabinet or countertop details. Ask who checks fit, mounting support and compatibility with the faucet and drain components. A change in sink size or mounting type can require countertop fabrication or cabinetry work in addition to plumbing. Verify applicable trade and permit requirements for the actual connection work.
Define the connected handover
Clarify removal, disposal, mounting, sealing and the plumbing checks included in the quote. Identify who disconnects and reconnects a disposal, dishwasher connection or other accessory if present. Ask how hidden damage in the cabinet or around the cutout will be handled. A repair proposal should state the diagnosed source and any components left unchanged. A completed installation should be reviewed as a supported, connected fixture; placing a new basin in an opening is only one stage of that work.

Project questions
What details does a sink installer need about the existing countertop?
Supply the sink model, mounting style and photographs of the countertop, cabinet and connections. Ask the provider to assess compatibility and the condition of the supporting surfaces before fitting.
How should a leaking sink request differ from a replacement request?
Describe where and when the leak appears without assuming its cause. Ask the appropriate provider to distinguish diagnosis, mounting or sealing repairs from removal and installation of a new sink.
