Scope of seasonal & holiday lighting installation
Seasonal lighting work should define the display, products, attachment locations, access, and when installation and removal are wanted. Explain who supplies, checks, stores, and replaces the lights. Have the provider assess suitable mounting and power arrangements, and include takedown and any restoration of attachment points as explicit parts of the agreement.
Describe the display and who supplies it
Identify rooflines, trees, railings, wreaths or other features you want decorated. Provide a marked photograph and list any lights or accessories already owned. A provider may install customer products, supply a temporary display or offer another arrangement, so clarify ownership and what happens to the materials afterward. An inspiration image is a design reference rather than a promise that every property can reproduce it.
Review access, attachment and power
Show building height, vegetation, available power and areas with restricted access. Ask how the selected products and temporary attachments will follow their instructions without damaging finishes. Fixed electrical changes or new outlets need a separate qualified scope. The installation plan should account for the actual site and product; it should not rely on a blanket claim that every light string or attachment is suitable outdoors.
Include the end of the season
Agree on installation, accepted testing, in-season fault handling, takedown and storage. State who owns and labels the products and who repairs an attachment point if needed. Dates depend on the provider's actual schedule and should be confirmed directly. A permanent decorative system is a different project; temporary installation should not be described as including unlimited changes or ongoing service unless those terms are explicitly provided.
Related work with a different scope
- Permanent Outdoor Lighting Installation: A permanent decorative system remains installed year-round and has different service considerations.
- Outdoor Lighting Installation: Functional outdoor lighting uses a broader exterior installation brief.
Project questions
What dates and products should a holiday-lighting request include?
Provide the display plan, supplied lights and desired installation and removal dates. Identify attachment locations and access so the provider can assess the complete seasonal task.
Who handles takedown and storage of seasonal lights?
Agree on checking, replacing, removing and storing the products before installation. Include cleanup and any restoration of attachment points in the agreement rather than assuming they are part of the initial fitting price.
