Identify the storage system and starting space

Distinguish a manufactured organizer with instructions from a request that needs design or fabrication. Record the exact product rather than asking for a generic ‘closet installation.’ If an old system remains, explain whether it is to stay, be partly reused or be removed.

Measure for a usable fit

Measure the available width, height and depth, and show the door opening, baseboards and visible obstructions. Include the intended contents so the proposed use is clear. These observations help discuss fit; they do not replace the installer’s measurements or support assessment.

Ask who checks compatibility before purchase and what removal or finish work is included. For a bookcase, identify any manufacturer-specified restraint instructions and ask how that stage would be addressed. Assembly does not automatically define wall attachment or the work needed at the surrounding surface.
