Show attachment and intended position
Livermore’s official FAQ excerpt groups sheds, patio covers and arbors, discusses attachment to a building, and treats siting separately. The direct page returned 403; full criteria and any property-specific permission were not verified.
Describe the existing arrangement first, then label the proposed structure as freestanding or intended to connect to the house. If that detail is undecided, show the alternatives as questions. Include the intended position on the property without presenting a sketch or a visible fence as a verified boundary.
Keep siting and construction questions distinct
Ask the Permit Center about the location and connection questions in the actual proposal. A product name or kit description leaves those details unanswered. Keep the response associated with the same position and attachment arrangement that you show the provider.
The provider enquiry should explain what is to be retained, what would be added and which details still need appropriate assessment. If the location or proposed connection changes, make the change visible before relying on the earlier answer. This is scope preparation, without selecting structural details, setbacks or an exemption.
Does calling a Livermore project a shed settle its attachment and location questions?
No. The observed FAQ treats attachment and siting as questions beyond the structure’s label. Show the actual arrangement and ask the Permit Center about that proposal.
What should I identify if a patio cover would connect to the house?
Identify the intended connection, the existing house feature and what would remain or change. Give those details to the city and an appropriate specialist; a generic kit drawing does not assess the house.

For a rented home, confirm who can authorize alterations. In a shared building, ask about access and work rules. A citywide construction period does not establish the age, condition or safety requirements of an individual home; check the property records and the specific project.
