Check placement before arranging the clearout
Photograph the proposed container position on private property and its delivery approach. Mark gates, parked vehicles and features that could restrict access. Ask City Customer Service whether the position is suitable before organizing the dismantling or clearout around that container.
The City reservation page limits the program to eligible residential garbage accounts and excludes commercial use. It also discusses delivery that cannot fit on private property. Verify the current reservation conditions for the actual user and project instead of assuming a booking resolves placement or eligibility.
Sort the excluded materials before the container arrives
Sort the proposed contents before anything is removed. West Jordan explicitly excludes concrete, dirt and rocks, along with mattresses and hazardous items, from its dumpsters. Check the full current list and confirm separate routes for anything excluded; do not let a mixed pile make those materials hard to identify.
In the repair scope, distinguish dismantling, moving material to the container and off-site removal. Agree who handles items that the City program cannot take and where they will wait. Keep delivery and work dates provisional until the container position, contents and reservation have been confirmed.
Why confirm the container position before a West Jordan dumpster reservation?
The City page addresses attempted delivery when a container cannot fit on private property. Confirm the proposed position and access with Customer Service before organizing the clearout around it.
Can concrete and dirt share the City dumpster with ordinary clearout material?
No. The City’s prohibited list includes concrete, dirt and rocks. Keep them separate and confirm an appropriate receiving route rather than mix them into the residential container.

For a rented home, confirm who can authorize alterations. In a shared building, ask about access and work rules. A citywide construction period does not establish the age, condition or safety requirements of an individual home; check the property records and the specific project.
