Scope of shutter installation & replacement
Shutter installation differs between interior window shutters and exterior decorative or functional systems. Provide the product, opening dimensions, and proposed attachment surface. Establish whether measurement, custom fitting, old-shutter removal, hardware, and finishing are included, and have the provider confirm the appropriate scope for the particular shutter design and location.
State which kind of shutter you need
Interior window shutters, decorative exterior panels and tested protective shutters are different products. Identify the manufacturer, model, material and intended function. Say whether the provider measures and supplies them or only installs purchased units. An exterior decorative shutter should not be described as storm protection, and a product's protective performance cannot be inferred from its appearance.
Review the opening and attachment position
Show the window, surrounding trim, wall material and access height. For operating shutters, include the space needed for panels and hardware to move. Ask who confirms dimensions and the condition of the supporting surface. Repairing siding, replacing trim or altering an opening may need another scope. Any local approval or product requirement should be checked for the actual installation rather than generalized across all shutters.
Agree on operation, finish and documentation
The proposal should identify panels, hinges, catches, supplied attachments and accepted operating checks. Specify removal, painting, sealing and repair of old fixing points where required. Keep the manufacturer's care and use information. A stuck panel, damaged frame or missing component should remain visible as an unresolved issue, and installing one product should not be represented as certifying the entire window or building.
