Assembly & installation
The useful starting point is the product you want ready for use. These guides help you choose the assembly task and describe the work around it, from delivered boxes to attachment and removal of packaging.
Match the guide to the product
A desk, treadmill and outdoor playset may all arrive in boxes, but they need different enquiries. Use the furniture assembly guide for indoor furnishings, the fitness-equipment guide for exercise products, or the playset guide for that specific structure. Each route helps define the item rather than treating every kit as the same job.
Make an assembly request that can be assessed
Send the manufacturer, model and instructions if available. State whether the boxes have arrived, whether all components are present, and whether somebody has already started the work. Photograph the current stage when explaining an incomplete assembly. Missing hardware, damaged parts and a change from the original instructions are useful facts for the provider to assess before accepting the task.
Describe the room or installation position, delivery access and any stairs. Agree who moves the unopened product into position and who removes packaging. Manufacturer requirements remain part of the product specification; a general offer to assemble furniture does not establish that every requirement has been accepted.
Agree what attaches to the building
Putting components together and attaching the finished item to a building are separate scope decisions. Ask about the required wall or floor connection, the installation surface and who confirms suitability. For furniture and TVs, CPSC’s Anchor It! guidance explains the importance of anchoring against tip-overs. Identify that part of the request explicitly.
An outdoor kit may also need a base, while a powered product may involve a separate connection or setup task. Ask which stages are included instead of assuming that a completed assembly means every site, utility and operating requirement is covered.
Choose the next route
Choose a product guide below, then use states and cities to explore the directory. Confirm the business’s actual territory and accepted work directly. If components must be custom made, start with carpentry and shelving; for a foundation or wider outdoor build, compare exterior projects.
Questions about assembly & installation
What should I send when the product is already partly assembled?
Share the model, instructions, completed stages and clear photos. List missing parts or damage and explain any departure from the instructions. The business can then decide whether it will continue the assembly or first assess earlier work.
Does an assembly request include wall anchoring?
Include anchoring as an explicit requirement and provide the product instructions and intended surface. Ask who supplies the specified hardware and confirms the attachment method. Do not treat the word assembly as confirmation of this separate stage.
Which route fits a kit that also needs a prepared base?
Use the product’s assembly guide to identify the kit, then include the base as a separate scope. The outdoor-structure or foundation guide can help describe that site work; confirm who accepts each stage before arranging a visit.
