Keep owner and household roles clear
Nashua’s Lead Paint & Healthy Homes resource says Urban Programs works with property owners and heads of tenant households, when applicable, to determine eligibility. A building with several occupied units needs a clear account of those separate roles.
Prepare an address-and-unit outline showing which household occupies each part of the property and who can coordinate access. Keep private household information for the appropriate program conversation. A provider receiving a finish-work request needs to know which rooms and units the owner is asking them to assess, without assuming that another household’s inquiry covers them.
Let assessment define the proposed work
For qualifying projects, the city describes a staff-managed assessment, customized work scope and bidding process. Bring existing assessments and the location of surface concerns to that discussion. A preferred paint product or a whole-building decorating estimate does not define the program’s work.
Separate appearance goals from observations requiring assessment. Identify the relevant room or exterior feature and preserve earlier project references. Ask staff what should happen before privately commissioning any work. This guide has not established a lead hazard, household eligibility, available funding or an approved provider assignment.
Who should be identified when a Nashua program inquiry involves several occupied units?
Keep the property owner, each occupied unit and the relevant household contact roles clear. The city describes working with owners and heads of tenant households where applicable; staff determine eligibility.
Does a private paint estimate establish the city program’s remediation scope?
No. The city describes its own assessment and customized scope for qualifying projects. Treat a private estimate as background and ask staff how it relates to the program before commissioning work.

For a rented home, confirm who can authorize alterations. In a shared building, ask about access and work rules. A citywide construction period does not establish the age, condition or safety requirements of an individual home; check the property records and the specific project.
