Explain what temporary means in the actual proposal
Mableton’s Building Division lists a temporary-structure/use category with tents and trailers as examples, separately from its building and trade topics.
Identify what would be assembled or placed, where it would be used and the period being proposed. A product described as portable or temporary has not thereby been classified by the City. Explain any proposed fixed-property change as a separate question rather than hide it inside an assembly label.
Separate setup, removal and any fixed-property change
Ask the provider which setup or assembly task it accepts and whether later removal is included in the same offer. Keep the item’s intended use clear so a quotation for assembly is not mistaken for a plan covering every attachment, site change and later dismantling task.
Use that same description for the City inquiry. If the use, location or intended period changes, disclose it before relying on an earlier answer or offer. Leave anchoring, installation suitability and any fixed-property change for appropriate assessment. This guide makes no permit or exemption finding for a screen, tent, trailer or other product.
Does Mableton’s Building Division list temporary structures or uses separately?
Yes. Its page lists that category and gives tents and trailers as examples. Staff must address the actual proposed setup.
Is calling an outdoor item temporary enough to define the assembly work?
Identify the product, purpose, proposed period, setup and removal tasks, and any fixed-property change needing assessment. The label alone leaves those decisions open.

For a rented home, confirm who can authorize alterations. In a shared building, ask about access and work rules. A citywide construction period does not establish the age, condition or safety requirements of an individual home; check the property records and the specific project.
